The word “mabuhay” in Tagalog is an expression used in welcoming and showing hospitality. The "BOO" in Ma"BOO"hay was put in there originally as a Halloween pun, and we decided to stick with it. Aside from fundraising for the organization's many communities, social, and other cultural-related events, the Talent Showcase also doubles as a charity concert. This year we are donating to Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid ("To help our fellow brothers and sisters"), a charity in the Philippines that empowers children in poverty by providing them an education.
After 17 years, the Ma"BOO"hay Talent Showcase has been a terrific outlet for up-and-coming artists to hone their talents in front of a large audience that usually consists of a sold-out audience of more than 500 people. This year our headliner for this year is Tatiana Manaois! In addition, it is my goal for this year's Ma"BOO"hay to highlight the resiliency of the Pilipino culture and inspire the audience (whether they be Pilipino or not) that not only can we draw strength from leaders such as artists in today's community, but through the leaders of our culture's history.
