MAIN STAGE AREA & BACK STAGE SPECS
Venue / Staging
Because each venue is different, main stage dimensions will differ from city to city. Crossovers are available at most World of Dance Tour events. Inquiries for Main Stage Areas can be addressed to the Event Manager prior to the Event Date.
Due to the nature of the venue, it’s pretty much impossible for us to offer proper dressing rooms to each of the hundreds of dancers participating in the event. Instead, performers can get ready in designated open space or other rooms allocated for prep.
All performers are responsible for their own items. The venue, World of Dance staff, and all World of Dance live event affiliates and sponsors will not be held responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
All performers may get their hair and make-up done by the Paul Mitchell salon team for free. All hair and make-up appointments are done on a first come, first served basis. So get there early if you want to get styled on us!
Props
Got props in your act? All of them must go through a screening process. The World of Dance Tour Team must approve all performance props prior to the event date. To get approval, email photos of your props to the Event Manager before the event. All props must be fire retardant. Any prop that hasn’t been approved prior to the event will not be allowed on stage.
Tech
Due to time constraints, tech rehearsals will not be permitted on the main stage.
AWARDS & CASH PRIZES
What’s in it for you? The fun of expressing yourself with hundreds of other dancers, the thrill of sharing your art, and of course: prizes! To celebrate the most successful performances, World of Dance will hold an Awards Ceremony after each division.
World of Dance will award trophies to dance teams that place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd within each division.
First place winners from the Team Division will receive a $1500 check (prizes may vary per event).
First place winners from the Junior Division will receive a $500 check (prizes may vary per event).
Additional awards will be given in each division for Best Theme, Best Costume, and Crowd Favorite.
WOD CHAMPIONSHIP
Championship Rules
1 - 3 Place winners with a score of 80 points or higher from Junior / Team Division, will be invited to compete at WOD Championship within their qualifying year. *WOD Reserves the right to invite any teams to the WOD Championship
The age of each dancer at the time of any WOD Qualifier (US or International) in which they competed and placed with a score of 80 points or higher will reflect the following:
WOD Championship age rules will reflect the following:
Competition Entries - WOD CHAMPIONSHIP
Junior Division
Any act that competed ages 17 or under at the time of the World of Dance Qualifier.
Team Division
Groups must have a minimum number of 5 registered dancers.
Team Division is for adults, college students, and professional dancers but is open for all ages.
Groups can be comprised of dancers who are of mixed ages.
Junior and Team qualifier winners will compete in the same category as they qualified, as long as the ages matched the above at the time of the qualifier.
Example: - For example, if a dancer is 17 years old competing in Junior Division at WOD Arizona on October 21st 2018, but turned 18 years old on January 1st, 2019, they will still be able to compete in Junior Division at the WOD Championship because we are taking the age they were in the qualifying event into consideration (not the age they have turned since then).
