Part therapeutic community show, part educational panel, and part send-off party for Solasta, Pita and No Mirror Movement - a bay area dance collective being laid to rest after six years of service.
Come thru to honor what's been lost and what new life is emerging.
What Dancing Thru Death Means to Us:
Music and dance are huge resources for most human beings. It is culture. It is medicine. It is connection and inspiring and so much more.
The past few years has thrust unimaginable loss, grief and change amongst our human family - particularly artists, performers and those in entertainment spaces, especially QTBIPOC communities.
Dancing Thru Death is what we have all continued to do through this challenging time.
-->Continue to carve out spaces to be in joy, expression and play together thru the healing energy of music and dance.
--->Continue TO dance and be in relationship with the body. All of us in our own ways have experienced loss whether of a loved one or parts of ourselves that were no longer serving us.
With this loss, there is also new space for life, for growth and for expansion. This event aims to provide a time and space to be with the complexities of this experience and use storytelling and community care to lighten the load, release what's ready to go and celebrate what is on its way to us.
May we build a future together that allows us to be our messy human selves .
May we celebrate our aliveness together and bask in the resource of music and dance to sustain us.
LET'S DANCE Y'ALL.

Panel + Performance Context:
With the death of Diggs Deeper and No Mirror Movement, and the ongoing fragmentation of the all styles dance community due to unaddressed misogyny, homophobia and transphobia, community organizer and artist Solasta McIntyre Ethridge, previously known as SammyMac, is bringing folks together one more time to witness and be witnessed so we may understand, heal and grow together again.
Through a series of live performances by a queer-led cast, all of whom were present and involved through the 2019 Know Your Rank community talks, we hope to reengage folks of all walks of life and relationships to dance, into these important conversations and begin the long-term work of community repair.
Club spaces are Queer spaces. This event serves as a reminder of this history.
The event also aims to fill the gap from Diggs Deeper by providing a therapeutically oriented celebratory space for the medicine of music and dance to help us hold, move and grow from complex human experiences, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Letโs send community members Pita and Solasta off with love and care as they leap into the unknown of a new beginning in New York. May we honor each others losses and celebrate still being alive together.
